Abnormal
Abnormal: The Industrial Metal Prodigy
Abnormal is the industrial metal and electronic project of Australian multi-instrumentalist and producer Luke Palmer. Emerging from Perth's underground scene, the project gained international traction with its 2018 debut album, which charted on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart and secured a licensing deal with the independent label FiXT Music.
Early career
Luke Palmer began the Abnormal project in 2012 while studying sound engineering. His early work was characterized by a fusion of aggressive metal riffing with complex electronic programming, released independently through online platforms like Bandcamp.
This DIY approach led to a growing online following, culminating in the 2015 EP "Disconnect," which caught the attention of several niche labels specializing in the cyberpunk and synthwave genres.
Breakthrough
The breakthrough for Abnormal arrived in 2018 with the debut full-length album "Monarch." Released via the US-based label FiXT Music, the album leveraged the platform's established audience in the electronic rock sphere.
"Monarch" debuted at number 22 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart, a significant achievement for an independent Australian act. The album's lead single also garnered extensive play on streaming platforms dedicated to the industrial and alternative metal genres.

Later developments and collaborations
Following the success of "Monarch," Abnormal solidified its position with the 2020 EP "Vanguard" and a steady stream of singles. Palmer's work is noted for collaborations within the FiXT roster, including features with Scandroid and Voicians.
The project's music has been placed in various media, including video game trailers and television sports segments, further broadening its audience beyond the traditional industrial metal scene. Abnormal continues to release music independently under the FiXT banner, maintaining a direct connection with a dedicated global fanbase.
