After Life
After Life: The Architects of Modern Melodic Metal
After Life is a melodic metal band from Tampa, Florida, known for blending aggressive riffs with soaring vocal harmonies. The group achieved mainstream recognition with their 2018 album Echoes in the Void, which charted on the Billboard 200 and spawned several rock radio hits.
Early career
Formed in 2012, After Life emerged from the fertile Florida metal scene. The founding members, vocalist Liam Vance and guitarist Marcus Thorne, honed their sound through relentless local touring and self-released their debut EP, Fading Light, in 2014.
This independent release caught the attention of several smaller labels, leading to a development deal with Prosthetic Records in 2015. Their first full-length album, Shadow Path, arrived in 2016 and established their core sound.
Breakthrough
The band's breakthrough came in 2018 with their sophomore album, Echoes in the Void, released via the larger label Metal Blade Records. The lead single, Veil of Silence, entered the Top 20 on the US Mainstream Rock charts and received heavy rotation on satellite radio.
Echoes in the Void sold over 500,000 copies worldwide, earning a gold certification in Canada. This success was followed by extensive touring across North America and Europe as a support act for major bands in the genre.
