Angerfist: The Hardcore Techno Icon

Angerfist is the masked persona of Dutch electronic music producer and DJ Danny Masseling, a central figure in the global hardcore and gabber scene. Originating from the Netherlands, his career is defined by relentless high-BPM productions, explosive live performances, and a signature hockey mask that has become synonymous with aggressive electronic music.

Early career

Emerging in the early 2000s from the Dutch hardcore underground, Angerfist quickly gained notoriety for his intense and distorted sound. His early tracks were released on labels like BZRK Records, helping to define the burgeoning "nu style gabber" movement which incorporated breakbeats and hip-hop elements into traditional hardcore.

Breakthrough

Angerfist's major breakthrough came with his debut album, Pissin' Razorbladez, released in 2006 on Masters of Hardcore. The album solidified his reputation with its brutal energy and anthemic samples, becoming a staple in hardcore sets worldwide. Subsequent albums like Mutilate (2008) and Retaliate (2011) further cemented his status, consistently topping hardcore charts and selling out international events.

Throughout his career, Angerfist has remained prolific, releasing music on his own label, Masters of Hardcore, and performing at major festivals like Defqon.1 and Dominator. His consistent output and dedicated fanbase have made him one of the most recognizable and enduring artists in hardcore electronic music.

Fans of Angerfist's high-octane sound also frequently listen to artists like Miss K8, who shares a similar intensity and position as a leading figure in modern hardcore. The classic Dutch gabber influence can be heard in the work of Neophyte, a pioneer of the Rotterdam sound. For a blend of hardcore with industrial elements, Re-Style is a key artist. The raw, old-school hardcore energy is also championed by The Speed Freak.
