Asdrubar

Asdrubar: The Industrial Metal Prodigy from Germany
Asdrubar is a German industrial metal project known for its aggressive fusion of electronic programming and distorted guitar riffs. The artist, primarily the creative vehicle of multi-instrumentalist and producer Lars K., achieved notable underground success with the 2018 album Machina Ex Deus, which charted on the German Alternative Charts (DAC).
Early career
Formed in Hannover in 2012, Asdrubar began as a solo studio experiment by Lars K., a veteran of the local punk and metal scene. Drawing inspiration from the rhythmic intensity of bands like Rammstein and the sonic textures of Fear Factory, he self-released the debut EP Stahlwerk in 2014 through the small independent label Noiseforge Records.
Breakthrough
The project's breakthrough arrived in 2018 with the release of the sophomore album Machina Ex Deus. Signed to the larger independent metal label AFM Records, the album's lead single gained traction on streaming platforms and specialty radio, propelling the album to number 14 on the German Alternative Charts and securing a distribution deal in North America.
Key tracks
Maschinenherz — This crushing single from the breakthrough album became a staple in European metal clubs and defined Asdrubar's signature sound.
Zerstoerer — Featuring a guest vocal appearance from Chris Harms of Lord of the Lost, this track expanded the project's audience within the German dark rock scene.
Neon Gott — A later single known for its anthemic chorus and complex electronic programming, showcasing artistic evolution.
Stahl und Blut — The track that first garnered attention from AFM Records, leading to the pivotal album deal.
Following the breakthrough, Asdrubar solidified its position with the 2021 album Digital Dogma, which debuted at number 8 on the DAC. The project has since engaged in successful collaborations, including production work for other industrial acts and a remix for the band Eisbrecher in 2022, further cementing its reputation within the genre.
Fans of Asdrubar's pulsing, mechanized metal often appreciate the work of similar German acts. Rammstein shares the foundational industrial metal approach and theatricality. Eisbrecher operates in the same national scene with a comparable blend of heaviness and melody. OOMPH! is a clear pioneer of the German industrial metal sound that influenced Asdrubar's development. Megaherz offers a similarly aggressive and rhythm-driven style rooted in the same musical tradition.
The powerful industrial metal of Asdrubar is a regular feature on the playlists of specialist stations, including online industrial radio streams and European metal-focused FM stations. Its driving rhythms and thematic depth make it a perfect fit for programming that bridges alternative metal and electronic body music (EBM).
