Chris & Cosey are an English electronic music duo formed by former members of the pioneering industrial group Throbbing Gristle. Early Career

The duo consists of Chris Carter and Cosey Fanni Tutti, who began collaborating creatively and romantically during their time in Throbbing Gristle. Following that group's initial dissolution in 1981, they immediately formed Chris & Cosey, aiming to explore more melodic and rhythmic territory while retaining an experimental edge.

Their early work was released through their own independent label, CTI (Creative Technology Institute), which they established to maintain complete artistic control. Breakthrough

Chris & Cosey's breakthrough into wider consciousness came with their 1985 album, Songs of Love and Lust. The record, and particularly its single October (Love Song), successfully bridged the gap between their industrial roots and the burgeoning electronic dance music scene.

Their innovative use of drum machines, synthesizers, and Cosey's distinctive vocal delivery carved a unique path, influencing the development of electronic body music (EBM) and techno. They became cult figures, respected for consistently producing forward-thinking music that defied easy categorization.
