Dj Flomo: The Afro-House Pioneer

Dj Flomo is a Liberian-born, US-based DJ and producer who has become a central figure in the global Afro-house scene. His fusion of traditional African rhythms with contemporary electronic production has earned him a dedicated international following and significant chart success in dance music markets.

Early career

Born Flomo S. Kromah in Monrovia in 1990, his early musical environment was shaped by West African sounds and the vibrant local music scene. He began experimenting with production software after moving to the United States, releasing his first unofficial edits and remixes on SoundCloud around 2012, which caught the attention of several underground digital labels.

Breakthrough

Flomo's breakthrough arrived in 2018 with his single Kukere, a vibrant rework of the Ivorian coupé-décalé style. The track was picked up by the influential South African label Soul Candi and became a staple in Afro-house sets worldwide, charting on Beatport's Afro House Top 10 for several consecutive weeks and achieving gold certification in South Africa.
