Early career

Groove Armada was formed in 1995 by Andy Cato and Tom Findlay, who met in London. Their early work involved DJing and releasing tracks on the independent label Tummy Touch, culminating in their 1997 debut album, Northern Star.

Breakthrough

The duo's commercial breakthrough arrived with their 1999 album Vertigo, which featured the iconic track "At the River." This downtempo classic, sampling Patti Page's "Old Cape Cod," became a worldwide chill-out anthem and propelled the album to gold certification in the UK.
