Early career
Luscious Jackson formed in New York City in 1991, originally consisting of Jill Cunniff, Gabby Glaser, and drummer Kate Schellenbach, a founding member of the Beastie Boys. The band's name was taken from a former basketball player for the Philadelphia 76ers. They quickly signed to the Beastie Boys' label, Grand Royal, and released their debut EP In Search of Manny in 1992, blending funk basslines, hip-hop beats, and cool, conversational vocals.
Breakthrough
The band's breakthrough arrived with their 1996 sophomore album Fever In Fever Out, released on Grand Royal and Capitol Records.
