Silver City
Silver City: The Arena Rock Revivalists
Silver City is an American hard rock band that emerged from the Los Angeles music scene in the late 2000s. The quartet is best known for their 2013 debut album Neon Horizon, which achieved Gold certification and launched a series of successful arena tours.
Early career
Silver City formed in 2008, founded by vocalist/guitarist Leo Vance and drummer Miles Carter. The pair, inspired by 70s and 80s rock, spent two years honing their sound and lineup before self-releasing the EP Desert Drive in 2010. This independent release caught the attention of several mid-sized labels, leading to a development deal with Rockhaven Records in 2011.
Breakthrough
The band's major breakthrough arrived in 2013 with their debut full-length album, Neon Horizon, released on the larger imprint Phoenix Rising Records. Propelled by heavy radio play on rock formats, the album peaked at number 12 on the Billboard 200 and was certified Gold within ten months. The lead single, "Midnight Runaway," became a staple on rock radio and cracked the Top 10 on the Mainstream Rock chart.
Key tracks
Midnight Runaway — This anthemic lead single defined their signature sound and became their first major radio hit.
Neon Horizon — The title track showcased their ambitious songwriting and became a fan-favorite album opener.
Kings of the Electric Sun — A later single that demonstrated their evolving, more muscular production style.
Desert Drive — Their early independent release that built their initial cult following on the West Coast.
Ghost Radio — A track from their second album noted for its successful collaboration with veteran producer Andy Wallace.
Following their debut success, Silver City released their sophomore album, Voltage, in 2016. While it did not match the sales of its predecessor, it debuted at number 24 and solidified their reputation as a consistent touring act. The band has collaborated with artists like The Dead Daisies on the track "Steel and Blood" and contributed a cover of "Barracuda" to a 2018 Heart tribute compilation.
