The Raconteurs: Garage Rock Revivalists

The Raconteurs are an American rock supergroup formed in Detroit, Michigan. Their 2006 debut album Broken Boy Soldiers reached the Top 10 in both the US and UK, establishing them as a major force in the 2000s rock revival.

Early career

The band was formed in 2005 by longtime friends Jack White of The White Stripes and Brendan Benson, who were joined by the rhythm section of Jack Lawrence and Patrick Keeler from The Greenhornes. Their collaboration began organically, writing and recording the song Steady, As She Goes during informal sessions, which led to the decision to form a full-time band.

Breakthrough

The Raconteurs' breakthrough came swiftly with the 2006 release of their first single, Steady, As She Goes. The track became an instant modern rock anthem, earning a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group and driving their debut album Broken Boy Soldiers to number seven on the Billboard 200 chart.

Key tracks
