Sigma: The Drum & Bass Powerhouse
Sigma is the British drum and bass production and DJ duo consisting of Cameron Edwards and Joe Lenzie. Formed in 2008, the pair rose from the UK club scene to achieve mainstream chart success, blending high-energy drum and bass with accessible pop and vocal house elements.
Early Career
Cameron Edwards and Joe Lenzie, both students at the University of Leeds, formed Sigma in 2008. Their early work focused on the drum and bass scene, releasing tracks on labels like Hospital Records and Viper Recordings, where they built a reputation for their powerful, melodic take on the genre.
Breakthrough
Sigma's breakthrough into the mainstream arrived in 2014 with their UK number-one single "Nobody to Love," a rework of Kanye West's "Bound 2." This was swiftly followed by another chart-topper, "Changing," featuring Paloma Faith, cementing their status as hitmakers who could bridge the gap between underground drum and bass and pop radio.
Key Tracks
Nobody to Love - This 2014 single became Sigma's first UK number-one, a drum and bass anthem that dominated clubs and charts.
Changing - Featuring Paloma Faith, this track gave Sigma their second consecutive UK number-one and showcased their skill with vocal collaborations.
Glitterball - A collaboration with Ella Henderson, this single continued their run of top-ten hits, blending uplifting vocals with their signature production.
Following their initial chart success, Sigma released their debut album, "Life," in 2015, which featured a range of vocalists including Rita Ora, Labrinth, and Birdy. They have continued to release music and perform internationally, maintaining a presence in both the drum and bass circuit and the wider electronic music festival scene.
