That’s the inspiration behind the 1923 Main Street Unscripted line of graphic t-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies. This collection is for those who live for the thrill of discovery on their own terms—whether that means wandering off the beaten path in a new city or uncovering hidden details in your favorite Disney park.
The Inspiration Behind Unscripted
The Unscripted line was born out of our love for unplanned exploring. As the founder of 1923 Main Street, I have always been a traveler who prefers to explore new destinations without guides. No pre-planned tours. No following the footsteps of someone else’s plan. And so the Unscripted concept was created to capture that sense of discovery and exploration.
Unscripted is for travelers who prefer the luck of discovery over strict itineraries and those who believe, as we do, that the best experiences come when you follow your instincts rather than a schedule. If you prefer that someone else didn’t write your script for you, then Unscripted is for you. Whether it’s finding a hidden gem of a café in a quiet alley off the beaten track, or the quiet beauty of a side trail that leads to an epic view, these are the unscripted moments that make travel (of any kind) truly unforgettable.
We also drew inspiration from another kind of traveler—one that shares the travel style of Mike himself. This is the Disney traveler who visits theme parks on their own terms.
How many times have you heard people who are frustrated by the extreme overplanning “required” to have a great Disney vacation? Or the travelers who come home exhausted after a visit to Walt Disney World and say they need a vacation from their vacation?
This is the antithesis of Unscripted.
Overplanning is the Bane of Disney Travel (So Don’t Do It)
Unscripted is not about having no plans at all. Let’s face it, some planning is necessary for any vacation, but it’s the overplanning that can suck the magic right out of a Disney vacation in particular. With so many travel guides, Disney planning platforms, self-proclaimed Disney influencers and park planning “gurus” telling you what to do, where to eat, where to go and when to do it…your vacation can quickly become robotic, stressful and not enjoyable. You’re living somebody else’s script, not your own.
The Unscripted traveler breaks free of rigid schedules and discovers the parks with a sense of freedom, wonder and curiosity—exactly how Walt Disney intended it to be.
