USA Today Column Compares Caitlin Clark Supporters to Emmett Till Lynch Mob

USA Today Column Compares Caitlin Clark Supporters to Emmett Till Lynch Mob

Author: Jim Geraghty & Greg Corombos – Political Humor Commentary July 24, 2026 Duration: 27:56
Join Jim and Greg for the Friday 3 Martini Lunch. Today, they sift through the wild Democratic primary for governor in Wisconsin, Islamist attacks in New York City described as mental health issues, USA Today's bonkers column tying defenders of the WNBA's Caitlin Clark to lynch mobs in the 1960s, and the government failing to track hundreds of billions in grants to the states.

First, they dig into the dysfunctional Democratic primary for governor in the Badger State. The frontrunner is an avowed Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) candidate. The governor's preferred candidate had to drop out because her own staff cooked the books and the campaign ran out of money. And the other candidates are a mess too. Jim and Greg pop the popcorn.

Next, they sigh as two obvious Islamist extremist stabbings in New York City get described as possible hate crimes but also possible mental health issues. They also wince while remembering that Mamdani will play a prominent role in the 25th anniversary observances of 9/11 terrorist attacks in just a few weeks.

Then, they rip USA Today sports columnist and relentless woke warrior Nancy Armour for denouncing defenders of Caitlin Clark as white nationalists and comparing them to the lynch mob that killed Emmett Till in 1955. Jim and Greg discuss the insanity of that analogy. Jim also details how the WNBA is thoroughly committed to financial failure.

Finally, they groan as a new watchdog report shows that we cannot trace the final destination of nearly 75 percent of $958.6 billion in state grants.

Each day can feel like a barrage of headlines, a chaotic mix of the serious and the absurd. That’s where 3 Martini Lunch-Political Humor & Commentary comes in. Hosts Jim Geraghty of National Review and Greg Corombos have built a following by sorting through the noise with a specific, effective ritual. They serve up the day’s events in three distinct parts they call "martinis": one for the genuinely good news, another for the frustratingly bad, and a final one reserved for the utterly crazy stories that defy belief. What you’ll hear in this podcast is a conversation that feels like sitting with two well-informed friends who aren’t afraid to be sharp, witty, or blunt. They analyze politics and culture with a perspective that cuts through partisan talking points, aiming for clarity and, often, a much-needed laugh. The pace is brisk and designed for a commute or a lunch break, but the commentary is substantial. Tuning into this podcast means getting a digest of what matters, framed with humor and insight that makes the whirlwind of news actually digestible. It’s a daily check-in that manages to be both smart and consistently entertaining, providing a structured way to understand the world without losing your sanity in the process.
