Amazon Selling, A Legitimate Business: Lesley Hensell

Amazon Selling, A Legitimate Business: Lesley Hensell

Author: Marcylle Combs July 24, 2024 Duration: 40:53

Lesley Hensell shares her journey of how she got into selling on Amazon and how it helped her support her son's special needs education. She started by homeschooling her son and selling on Amazon to cover the costs. Eventually, she turned her consulting background into a business helping other Amazon sellers. She also wrote a book called 'The Amazon Incubator' to provide a legitimate guide for those interested in selling on Amazon. Lesley discusses the evolution of Amazon and the challenges and opportunities it presents for sellers. She shares her favorite strategies for sourcing inventory and highlights the importance of treating Amazon selling as a legitimate business. Lesley Hensell discusses her experience as an Amazon consultant and the challenges of being a female leader in a male-dominated industry. She shares insights on how to involve children in the business and teach them about entrepreneurship. Hensell also talks about the impact of AI on the e-commerce industry and the importance of understanding Amazon's internal processes. She emphasizes the need for credibility and clear communication in the consulting field.

Lesley Hensell is co-founder and co-owner of Riverbend Consulting, where she oversees the firm’s client services team. She has personally helped hundreds of third-party sellers get their accounts and ASINs back up and running. Lesley leverages two decades as a small business consultant to advise clients on profitability and operational performance. She has been an Amazon seller for almost a decade, thanks to her boys (18 and 12) who do most of the heavy lifting.

A lifelong Longhorns fan, Lesley earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism and an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin. She volunteers for A Wish with Wings, a wish-granting organization for little Texans with life-threatening conditions, and she serves on the Board of Directors for Hallie’s Heroes, which funds bone marrow matches and medical research for kids with cancer and critical illnesses.
