Empowering the Blind: Angela Fowler's Journey

Author: Marcylle Combs April 2, 2025 Duration: 25:04

Angela Fowler shares her journey as a blind entrepreneur, discussing the challenges she has faced and the unique business she has built around accessibility. She emphasizes the importance of understanding and implementing accessibility in technology and business, providing insights into resources available for the visually impaired. The discussion also touches on the significance of cultural accessibility, especially in healthcare, and the support women provide each other in the business world. Angela highlights the role of mentorship and the future of technology, including self-driving cars and AI, in enhancing accessibility. Angela Fowler is a popular coach, consultant and speaker who shows organizations how to increase their bottom line by leveraging the power of accessibility to tap into the $2.1 trillion buying power of people with disabilities. As a business woman who is also totally blind, she has a uniqueinsight into what it takes for regular every-day businesses to tap into a market which they may not fully understand or readily think is available to them. With humor and straight talk tempered with patience, she shows organizationshow to make the necessary adjustments, often with a lot less effort than they think. Angela’s courses offer common-sense, cost effective solutions to help businesses make their products and services accessible to people with disabilities and more user-friendly for everyone. Her philosophy is that most people want to do the right thing, they just don’t know what the right thing is. Angela runs her coaching and consulting business from her home in Northern California, which she shares with her 18-year-old son, whose life seems to barely include her, her feisty kitten, who very clearly prefers her son, and her loving dog of indeterminate breed who thinks she’s God’s gift to doggie-kind and cannot get enough of her company. When she’s not working, sheenjoys true crime, sports, and cooking the best tri-tip on God’s planet low and slow on the barbecue.
