WHY SIT DOWN FOR A RIGGED POKER GAME? Terry Meiners on the NBA gambling scandal

Author: NewsRadio 840 WHAS (WHAS-AM) October 24, 2025 Duration: 18:52
Federal indictments were served to former Louisville Cardinal Terry Rozier, Portland Trailblazers coach Chauncey Billups, and more than 30 others allegedly involved in organized gambling crimes.

Prosecutors claim that Rozier alerted others to bet on the "under" totals for scoring and rebounds and then faked an injury to leave his NBA game so that the bets would win. Billups allegedly colluded with New York mafia families to host poker games with high dollar suckers who had no idea that the playing cards were marked.

The federal goverment claims that tens of millions of dollars were bilked from casinos and individuals.

Considering the high tech trickery at the card tables, Terry Meiners wonders why anyone with a brain would ever play cards in a casino again.
