Ep 67: Suicide Squad, Jungle Cruise, and Sling Blade

Ep 67: Suicide Squad, Jungle Cruise, and Sling Blade

Author: Monkey Poo Studios August 16, 2021 Duration: 2:02:09

After leaving us the other morning for his "Real Friends", Quad returns for good. While walking the trail of tears, he got lost in a world of Schmigadoon (or something like that on AppleTV) and realizes his true strength on the show is not his TV/Move knowledge.

Neighbor Cole Geeks out about more Alone on Hulu, America's Forgotten Heroes, a podcast that you can't watch, but you can (and must) listen to, and teases something about he and codename Lady Charmin before bringing a Sling Blade to our Weekly Watch Party.

Ginger is kind of Meh about Suicide Squad and Jungle Cruise, but comes around through conversation.  He's not excited about the Addams Family casting in Netflix's 'Wednesday' series coming from Tim Burton for various reasons.

We wrap the show up with talk about the trailers for Hulu's upcoming mini-series, Dopesick, starring Michael Keaton and Rosario Dawson. Cole almost screams himself out of his chair during the first 30 seconds of HBOmax's Malignant, and Quad is coming to terms with his feelings about women kicking butt after watching the trailer for Netflix's upcoming Kate.

Ever feel like your weekly pop culture diet needs more laughs and less homework? That's the space 7 Days a Geek happily occupies. Created by the folks at Monkey Poo Studios, this is a comedy podcast built for anyone who loves movies, TV, and the wonderfully weird news from the geekosphere, but prefers their analysis served with a heavy side of irreverent humor. The rhythm here is conversational and unscripted, driven by the hosts' distinct personalities and their shared, deep-seated enthusiasm for the stuff they love to talk about. You'll hear them break down new film releases and debate the latest binge-worthy series, dissect upcoming trailers with a critical yet hopeful eye, and sift through the week's geek news for the genuinely interesting bits. A recurring highlight is the Top 7 list segment, which tackles everything from ranking cinematic robots to debating the most underrated TV finales, always sparking more funny, passionate debate than definitive answers. The tone is less like a formal review and more like eavesdropping on a hilarious, informed conversation between friends who just spent the whole week absorbing the same culture you did. It’s that specific blend of genuine fandom and comedic chemistry that makes this podcast a consistent listen. Tuning in feels like getting your pop culture fix from pals who are just as likely to launch into a thoughtful critique as they are to get sidetracked by a completely absurd tangent, all in the name of celebrating the fun of being a fan.
