Let’s face it; things didn’t come easy in the 70’s. People spent a lot of time searching the want ads and it was hard to not get down on a Monday when you couldn’t find anything in there. Relationships were strained when he loved her madly, but she didn’t know how to love him, and yet both realized they never can say goodbye. The drumbeat of bad news made a lot of people turn toward the heavens and say “For God’s sake if there were only some way to bring more power to the people”. Some people ignored the bad news, drank their cool aid, had brown sugar and marmalade on their toast while others were looking for a superstar who would offer their hand and lead them to a bridge over the troubled water. Someone to tell them that it’s not too late, that perhaps the way to bring back joy to the world was right on the tip of their tongue. I humbly ask you to stay awhile and indulge in this week’s podcast where we take a look at the Billboard Top 40 from the week ending June 5, 1971.
