A Year of Crime as Reported in the Newspapers of West Tennessee
Burglar pounded by home owner. Commutation for killing son-in-law. Gen. Jackson's scandalous affair.
The news of January 14, 1886 came from The Pulaski Citizen, a newspaper from Giles Count, which is in the Middle Grand Division of Tennessee. During the COVID-19 pandemic, access to historic newspapers is limited and on some dates, no newspapers originating in West Tennessee can be accessed. However, newspapers reported many of the same crimes from around the county so surely Madison County citizens read many of the same stories as the readers in Giles County.
