Episode 002!

Ace Comicals Presents the current Ta-Nehisi Coates & Brian Stelfreeze Black Panther run!

We decided we would discuss and review the first collected volume of this run "A Nation Under Our Feet - Book 1".

This volume collects issues 1-4 of the current run and also includes the first ever appearance of the Black Panther from Fantastic Four #52 (originally published July 1966).

Hear our thoughts and feelings on the current state of affairs in the country of Wakanda, and the conflicted life of T'Challa (Being king ain't easy) as we get deep with the writing and artistry on display in this explosive and promising introduction!

Included are some links to the videos and interviews we mention during the show:

Ace Comicals, over and out!

Hosted by Greg Driver, Ace Comicals is a fortnightly conversation that digs into the vast, colourful world of sequential art. Alongside co-hosts Leon and Rahul, Greg explores everything from mainstream monthly issues and graphic novels to the more obscure corners of the medium-think newspaper strips, film adaptations, and even those spontaneous stories doodled on napkins. The discussion is driven by a genuine enthusiasm for how art and text combine to tell stories, offering insights that are as thoughtful as they are passionate. This isn't a dry critique; it's the sound of friends dissecting what they love, with all the tangents and deep dives that come naturally. The entire podcast benefits from the distinctive visual flair of artist Anthony Smith, who provides the logos and artwork. Whether you're a lifelong collector or just curious about the form, each episode feels like pulling up a chair at a lively chat where the only rule is a shared appreciation for the craft. You'll come away with new perspectives on familiar works and a list of titles you might have otherwise missed.
