Episode 21: Last Man Standing

Episode 21: Last Man Standing

Author: Brian Fischer and Rodrigo Monico-Barros August 24, 2018 Duration: 1:04:00
Way back in 2017, ABC dared to air a sitcom with a grumpy Dad who espoused the value of hard work, personal responsibility, and family values, (no, we're not talking about The Goldberg's, or Fresh of the Boat, or Black-ish, or come to think of it just about every sitcom on ABC) that show was Last Man Standing starring Tim Allen. Running from 2011 to 2017 Last Man Standing followed the trials and tribulations of Mike Baxter, just your run of the mill, hardworking, misunderstood white male, trying to make sense of this crazy world! In 2017 the show was canceled by ABC and some cried foul. Was it canceled because of its conservative values and themes? Should it have even been canceled in the first place? Is all of this a moot point because it was picked up by FOX for the 18-19 season? Listen as Brian struggles mightily with years (he ain't so good with numbers), and Rodrigo refuses to believe that the Bruce Willis movie, Last Man Standing, is terrible. Standing or sitting, man or woman, come check out Episode 21!

Ever wondered what would have happened if your favorite movie had a different ending, or if a pivotal sports moment had gone the other way? That's the playground of the Alternative History Podcast, hosted by Brian Fischer and Rodrigo Monico-Barros. This isn't a dry lecture series; it's a lively, often comedic conversation between two friends diving into the pop culture moments, historical footnotes, and societal trends that didn't quite land as intended. Each episode picks apart a topic from movies, music, TV, sports, or books, examining how things could have-or perhaps should have-unfolded differently. The charm of this podcast lies in its genuine, meandering discussions that connect unexpected dots, finding humor and insight in the shared experiences that shape our culture. Listen in for a blend of casual analysis and lighthearted debate, where the goal is less about academic correction and more about celebrating the fascinating, messy stories we all remember. It's a space for reconsidering the past with a smile, one "what if" at a time.
