Animal Party Episode 172 Caller’s Traumatized Doodle Refuses to Enter Car

Author: Pet Life Radio December 27, 2023 Duration: 21:54
Allan in Winnipeg calls about his newly adopted doodle age 4, who saw another dog die in a motor vehicle accident when she was very young and refuses to enter the car to this day. Daisy Doodle is terrific in every other way, and ok once in the car but won’t get in herself and Allan asks if the trauma caused the problem and asks Deb’s advice to teach Daisy to jump into the car. Deb explains 3 steps that will work to get Daisy to think of the car as fun, and eventually climb in happily. Kudos to Allan for adopting an older dog! When you adopt an older dog, the dog more than pays you back with huge gratitude every day. If you have a pet problem or question; please send your voice clip to deb@petliferadio.com. Right now, Deb is looking for examples and stories about pets who demonstrate a sense of humor. If your dog or cat plays practical jokes or seems to enjoy a good laugh please tell Deb about it! Last week Deb had a run in with a bear chasing her old Mazda (the bear won) and this week while leaving a busy suburb teeming with traffic and people, a baby bear moseys on by and Deb got footage of people getting far too close!
