Freshman Freak Shines in Blowout Win | Arkansas Razorback Basketball News

Arkansas obliterated the Bahamas National Team 106-59, but the real headline? Freshman Maper Maker, standing a towering 6’11”, dominated with four points, six boards, five blocks, and five steals in just over 20 minutes—showing elite defensive range and hustle. Associate head coach Kenny Payne raved about Maker’s perimeter shot-blocking and steals, calling it exactly what they lacked last season and predicting more minutes ahead. The team’s new strategy of deploying multiple bigs over 6’11” forced opponents to hesitate, giving guards time to recover and contest. Blocks weren’t just from the bigs—guards like Abdou Toure, Jordan Smith Jr., JJ Andrews, and Billy Richmond III all chipped in, showcasing team-wide athleticism. And don’t overlook 17-year-old Davion Thompson, who reclassified to the 2026 class, dropping 17 points on 3 threes and perfect free throws, adding three assists and two rebounds while bringing relentless energy and scoring ability off the bounce.
