Mo (who was last on the show before summer 2024 talking about Starwdew Valley) had recorded an episode with Mo, but spent almost 25 minutes recording complete tangents before getting to the episode proper. This episode is a collection of those tangents, provided as a piece of behind-the-scenes fun.

This is actually a sample of the full show notes—make sure to click here to see them.

Content Warning

As this is an episode about a biopunk action horror movie and the games that it's based on we'd advise a little caution for this episode. There's nothing explicitly terrible in this episode, but the subject matter can be pretty rough.

This episode has a few swears in it, but none which should be too offensive.

Please listen responsibly.

Show Notes

Remember Mo from the Starwdew Valley episodes? Well, she has returned. Both Mo and Squidge were recording an episode of the "To The Moviee" series about the Street Fighter movie, but ended up talking for a long time. All of it was hilarious, and all of it was recorded. So we thought we'd share some of the off0cuts and random tangents with you in this episode.

Squidge lightly led us into this, rather unusual episode, which started life as a series of off-cuts and bloopers from an episode with Mo about…, well we wont say just yet.

Squidge started this one off with his, no trademarked, intro:

Waffling Taylors Lite, the pocket-sized podcast that packs a gaming punch.

Hello there and welcome to this very special episode of Waffling Taylors. I thought I might draw back of the curtain a bit, and go through some of the processes we do behind the scenes that you don't normally hear.

Now, the reason why I decided to do this is because I'm currently editing a very special episode of "To The Movies" with someone called Mo. Mo's a very special person; she is who I consider to be the queen of tangents. Without realising before we got to the actual recording, we had already been talking for nearly 17 minutes of just pure nonsense. So I thought I might show you some of the clips And talk you through some of them.

— Squidge

Because of this, the show notes for this episode will be almost exclusively zero context quotes from the episode.

Trucking Upstairs and Servants

because I had to go into the office yesterday. And I was downstairs, I had my laptop bag on, I had my sneakers on, I was holding my wallet and my keys, I was ready to go.

I was like, "shit, I forgot my phone." So I had to truck upstairs, grab my phone, truck downstairs.

"Shit, I forgot my glasses." Trucked upstairs. Trucked downstairs.

"Shit, I forgot deodorant." Trucked upstairs. Trucked downstairs.

I was like, "damn it! Can I just have a servant to run up and down stairs for the things I forgot. Not just in general run up downstairs, just for the things I forgot." First of all, I would probably gain like 20 pounds because, you know, I run up and down the stairs a lot for things I forgot

Becoming Famous On The Internet

Okay, so before we start, I'll just do 10 seconds of silence so I can catch the room tone. So we'll do that in three, two…

I honestly though that my timer had froze just then. One of the seconds took way too long to cross

— Squidge

...

So it's just going to be clapping and silence. That's the episode.

People are famous on the internet for the stupidest stuff. So if we can't get famous for claps and silence, it's on us

— Mo

...

Yeah, we're definitely doing something wrong. If we can't get it for that.

… What a downer to start things off on? If we can't clap and be quiet and be famous for it, then what's the point?

— Squidge

...

I mean it's you just have a you have to have a real outlook on life is what it comes down to.

— Mo

Ever find yourself wanting to dive into a conversation about games that doesn't take itself too seriously? That's the space Arrggh! A Video Game Podcast from The Waffling Taylors happily occupies. Hosted by brothers Jay and Squidge-the latter's exact species (cartoon wolf?) is a running mystery-this show is a genuine, often hilarious chat between siblings who love this medium. Their discussions effortlessly bounce from deep dives on retro classics and brand-new releases to the often-baffling world of video game film adaptations. While the core of the podcast is their easy-going dynamic, they regularly bring on fantastic guests, including genuine legends from game development, which adds layers of insight you won't find elsewhere. One moment you might be parsing the lore of a beloved franchise, and the next you're deep in a light-hearted tangent about something completely unrelated, and that's the charm. It feels less like a formal production and more like you're hanging out with friends who happen to know a ridiculous amount about pixels and polygons. If you're after a mix of informed commentary, nostalgic warmth, and unscripted silliness, this podcast from The Waffling Taylors has you covered.
