The film balances dark humor with tension, using its contained setting to amplify character and mood rather than spectacle. The cast is led by Odessa A’zion (Marty Supreme) in a striking supporting role. The film is directed by Sam Hayes, who recently discussed POOLS during a live appearance on CBS Chicago this morning. The film celebrated its TVOD release earlier this month, will screen in London on January 16th, and has been invited to the Oscars and Director’s Guild FYC apps at a discounted rate, reflecting strong respect within the industry.
