IT'S NOT LIKE THAT is a show about two families dealing with immense loss and change, leaning on each other and their shared faith, finding a way forward together. The title is a wink to our rom com roots, but more importantly, it speaks to the essence of our show. As we move through the world, we all make assumptions about each other, misunderstand one another. We look through our own narrow lens, and that is rarely the whole or real picture. Everyone you meet is battling something you don't know about. In other words, it's not like that. There is always a deeper, more complex story, one that requires an extension of grace. That's really the overarching theme. And Malcolm - our pastor, father, friend and flawed, funny human - is at the center of this grace.Our hope for this show is that its humanity is universal. That no matter who you are, you'll be able to relate to and connect with these characters and what they're going through. That's our favorite kind of TV. We hope you'll enjoy it with your own open hearts and appreciate you taking the time to watch.
