Holiday Knights & Sins of the Father

This week marks the triumphant return of The BATTASS Podcast, as we dive into season 4 of Batman: The Animated Series, otherwise known as The New Batman Adventures! After a three year hiatus, the TAS team has come back with a series of new episodes that bring back all (or most) of your favorite classic voice actors, but with an all-new look to the show. Redesigned to both freshen up the show, as well as match better with the new Superman series from the same crew, The New Batman Adventures episodes mark our last stop for Batman the Animated Series before we dive into Batman: Beyond! This episode covers “Holiday Knights” and “Sins of the Father”.



First up, in Holiday Knights, we’ve got four different bat-tales all occurring on the same holiday night as we drop back into Gotham City and see what all our favorites are getting up to in the yuletide season. Amidst the year-end festivities, Batman pursues Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn, Batgirl confronts Clayface, and Batman and Robin try to stop The Joker from wreaking havoc on the streets of Gotham City. It’s redesigns galore in this one, despite its lack of continuity, and everyone’s got a new look! Also, we get to find out if Batman ever picks up the tab!



Next up in Sins of the father, Batman and Robin encounter each other for the first time when a street kid named Tim Drake finds himself hunted by the villain Two-Face. Tim, who is soon to become Batman’s partner Robin, is eager to impress his hero and bring down Two-Face. Despite Tim being already featured as Robin in Holiday Knights (see what I mean about continuity?), we get to see his origin story here, as well as get a better idea as to where the Bat-family is at this point. Dick’s become Nightwing and Barabara is around a lot more – there’s been quite the shake up!
