Mad Love & Chemistry

Mad Love & Chemistry

Love is a funny thing, isn’t it? Makes people do things that are truly mad! This week we’ve got two episodes about love – weird, unhealthy, monstrous love – and it’s not even Valentine’s day! But this is love that takes Batman to the edge of defeat by his greatest enemy’s best girl, and love that sends Bruce Wayne out to sea and almost ruins his life in Mad Love and Chemistry!

First up, in Mad Love, Harley Quinn tries to impress the Joker and truly win his heart by finally catching Batman, while the origin of her career as The Joker’s sidekick is revealed. This episode, based on the critically acclaimed comic book of the same name,  gives us a glimpse at what Harley is truly capable of when she puts her mind to something, as well as seeing what she used to be like back when she put her mind to work on a regular basis as Joker’s psychiatrist!

Next up in Chemistry, all the rich single people of Gotham are falling in love, and Bruce Wayne is no exception! Guest-starring Terminator’s Linda Hamilton as the green-eyed beauty Bruce finally falls for, it’s a Bat-filled wedding and a Poison-filled honeymoon that sends Bruce into marital bliss, only to break his heart when the dark secret of his new blushing (blooming?) bride is finally revealed!

Though not the final episode produced, Mad Love was the final episode of Batman to air in this classic run of episodes we refer to as “the animated series” (despite changing titles and about a four-year’s break in the middle), and it’s really a great one to go out on. Chemistry is no slouch either – this show is bringing the heat on its way out the door! So water your plants, spritz yourself with some perfume, make those piranhas smile and join us for Mad Love and Chemistry!

Ever wonder what happens when two working comic book artists sit down to talk about the definitive cartoon version of the Dark Knight? That’s the simple, compelling premise behind BATTASS: The Batman The Animated Series Show Podcast. Hosts Clay McCormack and Sean Murphy bring their insider’s perspective from the drawing board to every discussion, breaking down each installment of the legendary series. Their conversations are less like formal reviews and more like you’re overhearing a deep, passionate, and often very funny debate between two experts who genuinely love the material. You’ll hear them trace the artistic influences in the show’s iconic style, analyze the sharp writing that appealed to both kids and adults, and share personal insights into why certain characters or storylines resonate so powerfully within the broader world of comics. This isn’t a rushed recap; it’s a thoughtful, episode-by-episode excavation of what made Batman: The Animated Series a cultural touchstone. The result is a consistently engaging podcast that feels both educational and entertaining, offering a unique lens on a show many of us thought we already knew everything about. New episodes from The Pensky File dive into a single chapter of the animated saga, making it a perfect companion whether you’re revisiting the series or discovering it for the first time.
