Brisbane based pianist, composer, band leader and educator Callum Pask visited the Bent Notes studio to chat about his music and introduce us to a new album his trio has collaborated on from Brisbane based multi-disciplinary artist SOLCHLD.

The album – Scarred and Sacred –  is a collaboration merging Callum’s Jazz Trio with the Spoken Word in the form of poetry with a message, written by SOLCHLD.  Tha album is due for release on January 15, 2026 – checkout Bandcamp for the details and to hear the singles already released.

SOLCHLD is a Magan-djin based Jamaican/Arrernte artist who posesses raw, soulful vocals and a forceful poetic writing style.

Callum spoke about the challenges of creating an accompaniment that supports the powerful poems of SOLCHLD, not overpowering the poems but creating an integrated work.
