10: Smart Steps to Follow Before Reconciling After Infidelity

Author: Monica Humpal, MCC May 1, 2026 Duration: 39:37

Should you reconcile after discovering betrayal? You may want to, but should you? It's oftentimes a scary situation to navigate because there are no guarantees that reconciliation will ultimately end in a healthy, happy marriage. It may very well end in further betrayal. As we deal with the fallout of devastation and obliterated trust we are left with not knowing what to do. We love them. We want to believe them when they seem so remorseful. But is reconciliation the right choice?

There are no black and white answers to this as every situation is unique. BUT there are smart steps you can follow to help you navigate your decision making process. The key is to be intentional about your choice. Take smart, intentional steps. I hope this episode will help you as you work your way through this.

Walking through the aftermath of infidelity while choosing to remain in the relationship is a path few understand, and Betrayed & Stayed exists specifically for that journey. Host Rev. Monica Humpal brings a unique perspective as someone who has lived through the betrayal herself and now works as a Master Certified Coach. Each episode feels like a candid conversation in a trusted space, tackling the complex layers of grief, the slow rebuilding of trust, and the practical realities of setting boundaries. This isn't about simplistic advice or pretending the process is easy. Instead, you'll hear genuine discussions about what forgiveness can and cannot mean, the emotional labor of true reconciliation, and how to navigate the days when hope feels thin. Designed for both men and women, the podcast provides a blend of personal reflection and actionable wisdom, acknowledging the pain while focusing on the deliberate work of rebuilding something new from the fragments. If you're looking for real talk without the sugar-coating, this is a place to find solidarity and grounded guidance.
