Author: Bone Health & Osteoporosis Foundation May 8, 2019 Duration: 33:05
As the National Osteoporosis Foundation celebrates 35 years of helping others be bone strong, NOF’s Chief Executive Officer, Elizabeth Thompson, sits down with internationally respected osteoporosis researcher, Dr. Susan Greenspan. Dr. Greenspan serves as Professor of Medicine in the Departments of Endocrinology and Geriatrics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Her professional focus is on how osteoporosis affects elderly women. Both her personal and professional life have taught her that it’s never too late to treat osteoporosis—and it’s never too late for wellness. Join us as Dr. Greenspan uses real-life examples of her patients, Henry, Rose, and Margaret, to illustrate various treatment options.

Tuning into Bone Talk feels like pulling up a chair to a thoughtful, necessary conversation that often goes unheard. Produced by the Bone Health & Osteoporosis Foundation, this podcast moves beyond simple medical advice, weaving together the real human stories and expert insights that define the landscape of bone health. Each episode brings a different voice to the forefront-you might hear a researcher explaining a breakthrough in treatment, a caregiver sharing their daily challenges, or a policy advocate discussing systemic change. It’s this mosaic of perspectives from patients, doctors, innovators, and advocates that gives the discussion its depth and urgency. While osteoporosis is a central focus, the dialogue naturally expands to encompass holistic well-being, nutrition, fitness, and the science of healthy aging. The goal isn’t just to inform but to equip you with practical strategies and a sense of community, emphasizing how protecting bone strength is fundamentally about preserving your independence and capacity for an active life. This isn't a clinical lecture; it's a resource built on genuine conversation, making complex topics accessible and relevant for anyone invested in their long-term health.
