Montana Prison Ranch Elk Hunt | Bozeman News

Montana’s Department of Corrections is offering hunters a rare chance to tag a cow elk right on the grounds of their ranch—part of a public access rifle hunt program. Mark your calendars for October 1st at 7 PM at the Deer Lodge Community Center, where they’ll hold a drawing for spots. You’ll need the specific two-thirteen-dash-zero-one Elk B license to enter—and while in-person attendance is preferred, you can send a representative if you’re out of state or too young to go yourself. This hunt helps manage the elk herd while giving responsible hunters a unique, controlled experience. For full rules and updates, check the Montana Department of Corrections website.
