Kayla Downey is a former Division I lacrosse athlete, educator, and coach based on Long Island. She began her collegiate career at Stony Brook before transferring south, competing at Coastal Carolina and later using her final year of eligibility at Virginia Tech to play in the ACC. A lifelong lacrosse player, Kayla grew up in a family deeply rooted in the sport and credits that environment for shaping both her competitive drive and love for mentorship.After completing her degree in physical education, Kayla returned home to teach, coach, and train the next generation of athletes. She currently coaches club lacrosse on Long Island and provides individual lacrosse lessons, focusing on skill development, confidence, and long-term athlete growth.
