Episode 108: Olympics Recap

Author: Break 80 Podcast August 6, 2024 Duration: 1:04:01
It is everything Olympic golf this week as we review the mens portion of the 2024 Olympics at Le Golf National outside of Paris, France. Scottie Scheffler lit up the golf course firing a final round 62 and after a Jon Rahm collapse on the back 9, stormed his way to the gold medal. Tommy Fleetwood and Hideki Matsuyama took home the silver and bronze as a star studded field put on a show at the top of the leaderboard, both good and bad. We will also be diving into our under par challenge, as we are one week in and still no one has fired an under par round. We will talk about what it takes to do that compared to what it would take to break 80. Make sure to subscribe to the Break80 Podcast on Apple & Spotify for weekly golf content. The Break80 Podcast is a weekly conversation with Stouds, Mike, and Tim, three friends who find as much to talk about in the game's margins as in its major championships. This isn't just a recap of tour scores; it's a deep dive into the personal stories, the memorable rounds, and the local characters that give golf its texture. You'll hear their own experiences on the course, the good shots and the bad breaks, all framed by a genuine curiosity about what makes the sport compelling. The show actively seeks out the people and places that don't always make the headlines but are essential to the game's heart. It's built on the idea that the pursuit of that magic number-breaking 80-is a universal struggle, a mix of technical challenge and personal narrative. Tuning into this podcast feels like pulling up a chair in the grill room after a round, where the discussion ranges from equipment quirks to course design, always with a focus on the camaraderie that keeps players coming back. The Break80 crew operates with the understanding that the difference between a 79 and an 80 is everything, a philosophy that colors every story they uncover and every topic they share with their listeners.
