Before we took our hiatus, we spoke to Writer Justin Tinsley, who had just released his book, It Was All A Dream. The book about the life of the late great Notorious B.I.G. was published in time for his 50th birthday. Brian Nolan from Motown Records calls it "a must-read for any hip-hop fan who seeks to understand the journey of one of the most important artists of the twentieth century. There are a number of important, never-been-told-before stories that Justin Tinsley deftly weaves throughout this biography to create a thorough, brilliant account of the legacy of the Notorious B.I.G". In this unearthed conversation, Justin talks about how he put the book together, what he learned during the writing process. We all go into full geek mode about some of our favourite Biggie songs.

There's a particular kind of conversation that happens when two people who truly know a subject start talking, not for an audience, but for each other. That's the feeling you get with Breaking Atoms: The Hip Hop Podcast. Hosts Sumit and Chris, self-described Rap Scientists, approach the culture with a rare blend of deep reverence and analytical curiosity. Their discussions aren't just reviews or news recaps; they're full-spectrum examinations of the music, the history, and the politics that shape hip-hop's endless evolution. One episode might involve a high-brow deep dive into a classic album's production techniques, while the next unpacks the low-end theory of a current cultural moment with equal parts clinical analysis and passionate, subjective perspective. This podcast lives in the rich space between academic commentary and a lively back-and-forth between two experts who aren't afraid to disagree. You'll hear them break down important issues, from the granular details of a sample clearance to the broader societal impacts of the art form. It's that specific mix-the informed debate, the historical context, and the sheer joy of dissection-that makes Breaking Atoms a consistent destination for listeners who want to move beyond the surface. Tune in for conversations that treat hip-hop with the complexity and seriousness it deserves, all while never losing the raw, authentic energy that made you love it in the first place.
