Episode # 17 - A Conversation with Redbeard Samurai and JB Dojo

Author: Todd Woodson April 27, 2020 Duration: 40:25
Redbeard Samurai is a 9-piece Alt. RnB and Hip-hop group. We generally feature a 3-piece horn section in addition to the people featured on our video. We pay homage to the greats and really see the trajectory of the genre from jazz to rnb to soul to funk to hip-hop. These are all of a single lineage and we hope to put some impression of our own on that lineage. This song came to me on a walk home from the park. I was thinking about an old girlfriend when I started getting struck by rain. I thought "let the rain fall down to set the scene for how I'm feeling right now." The tune came in one of those moments of letting myself be honest with my emotions. Too often I just push emotional baggage to the back of my mind, but in that moment I was able to let go, and this song came out.
