Join my conversation with Akin Soul. He's is an independent multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, composer, who sings, plays Trombone, guitar and Keyboard. He's 18 years of age and is inspired by multiple Jazz/gospel artists such as Amy Winehouse, Sarah Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerald, Marvin Gaye, Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder and Lalah Hathaway and Kim Burrell. His stage name comes from the sir name ‘Ijish-akin’, He took the name ‘Akin’ and named myself ‘Akin Soul’. He has a soulful voice and reminds many of the soulful artists from years gone by. Two years ago, he created a 12 piece band with Drums, Keys, Bass, Guitar, 4 horns, 2 Bvs, and 2 strings to start performing his original material. The name was changed to ‘Akin Soul and The Soul Tribe’. They have played a plethora of venues such as Off The Cuff, All Points East Festival, Pop Brixton (BBC Music Day), Boxpark Croydon, Nambucca, The Garage, Union Chapel and a plethora of other venues. In a short period of time, they have grown as a band and now the plan is to take the band in the studio for the next project.
