CPP Sideshow 130 - Comedian Liam Hales

CPP Sideshow 130 - Comedian Liam Hales

Author: Carnival Personnel July 1, 2024 Duration: 1:12:46
Working comedian Liam Hales was our super fun guest this week.  Liam can be seen somewhere in New England every weekend hosting or featuring. Most Saturday’s Liam is at McCue’s Comedy Club in Portsmouth – Also a regular at Smitty’s Cinema’s (in Maine & NH) as well as City Winery in Boston to name a few places.  He is also an integral part of the Boston Comedy Festival production team. After time in a college improv troop, Liam spend a few years in Los Angeles working the comedy scene (where he cross paths with our great friend of ours Sally Mullin’s - Sleazy Does It On Amazon Prime) Liam’s material is very open, personal and relatable. He’s liked by and he cracks up all the big name comics (like Tony V) he works with and also goes out of his way to help the new comics (like Jacques) get stage time (as a comic and a host0 and is always so encouraging and supportive.  Between his kindness and being 6-6 and build like a lot 70s Buick station wagon, Liam exemplifies the term gentle giant … but I still wouldn’t want to heckle him. Also, a big thank you to Liam for letting us use clips from his awesome comedy album: Please Forgive Me (available on Apple Music and other places … and there are some fun clips on YouTube as well). Always posting fun clips from shows, Liam is a great follow at:                             LiamHalesNH and McCuesComedyPortsmouth on IG Jacques on IG/FB: Carnivalpersonnelpodcast – TiKTok: JacquesFunny                  Twitter is @CarnivalPodcast @TheJacques4 Biff on Twitter is @BiffPlaysHockey Joe on Twitter is: @Optigrabber   Opening Song: Joe’s acapella of The Sugerhill Games “Rappers Delight”  Closing Song: Building A Wall by Dan Cray and Beyond Id (Check out video Dan made for song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZnlObttN-I)

Ever feel like most conversations are too polished and miss the raw, funny chaos of real life? That’s the exact territory Carnival Personnel occupies. Hosts Biff, Jacques, and Joe have made it their unofficial mission to embrace the beautifully unrefined, treating each episode as a catch-all for whatever is on their minds or in the news. You’ll hear them riff on everything from pop culture and video games to sports and politics, often veering into delightful nothingness. The magic of this comedy podcast isn’t just in the hosts’ chemistry, though that’s a huge part of the appeal. Somehow, they also manage to pull in an incredible array of guests-renowned filmmakers, comic artists, authors, professors, and even the occasional lawyer or politician-all of whom get drawn into the same wonderfully low-stakes, high-laughs atmosphere. It feels less like a formal interview and more like eavesdropping on a hilarious conversation among very cool friends who aren’t afraid to be silly. Tuning in means joining a conversation where the standards are comfortably low but the entertainment value is consistently high, proving that the best discussions often happen when you stop taking yourself so seriously.
