CCCNews Podcast: Gorge Farmer Collective Puts Food Power Back in Growers’ Hands

Author: CCCNews October 4, 2025 Duration: 34:24
On the latest CCCNews Podcast, Executive Director and co-founder Kiara Kashubs described how the Gorge Farmer Collective started in March 2020, when farmers suddenly lost access to restaurants and markets. What began with five farms experimenting with an online marketplace has since expanded to more than 35 producers serving families, schools, food banks, and restaurants across Hood River, White Salmon, The Dalles, Mosier, and Lyle.

Based out of The Dalles, the CCCNews Pod-Honest Local News for the Mid Columbia, Listeners Edition is a community conversation first and a news report second. This isn't about distant headlines; it's the sound of our own backyard. Each episode digs into the honest, relevant, and positively focused stories that define life across the Mid-Columbia region, from Hood River to Goldendale and the towns in between. You'll hear directly from the journalists uncovering these stories, alongside invited guests and local storytellers who add depth, perspective, and sometimes a needed dose of comedy and commentary. The tone is conversational, the focus is local, and the goal is simple: to tell the stories that connect us. It’s a podcast built on the belief that understanding our neighbors and the issues right outside our doors is what truly brings a community closer together. Tune in for a regular dose of what’s happening, who’s making it happen, and why it matters to the place we all call home.
