Chicago Bears Central
The Chicago Bears are officially back on the practice field, and the expectations around this team are only getting louder 🔥🐻⬇️
In today’s episode of Chicago Bears Central, Haize breaks down the Bears entering Phase 2 of their offseason program under Ben Johnson, where players are back on the field for individual and group drills ahead of OTAs starting May 27. The Bears gave fans an early look at wide receivers, running backs, and new safety Coby Bryant in his new jersey number.
We also dive into Press Taylor’s promotion to offensive coordinator and why continuity could be massive for Caleb Williams in Year 3. Taylor played a key role in last season’s offensive success, including Caleb setting a single-season franchise record with 3,942 passing yards, while the Bears offense had the fewest giveaways in the NFL and scored the second-most points off takeaways. Now Taylor says the Bears must keep pushing the envelope and get even more creative.
Plus, rookie cornerback Malik Muhammad is already excited to work with defensive backs coach Al Harris, who helped lead a Bears secondary that produced an NFL-high 23 interceptions in 2025. With Jaylon Johnson locked in, Muhammad could compete with Tyrique Stevenson and Terell Smith for snaps opposite him.
And finally, the Bears may be heading into one of the toughest and most spotlight-heavy schedules in the NFL. Sharp Football Analysis has Chicago with the sixth-toughest schedule, and Mike Florio believes the NFL will put the Bears all over prime time because of Caleb Williams, Ben Johnson, and Chicago’s national draw.
