Jonah 4:1-11 // Paul Brandes

What happens when God extends mercy to the very people you want him to judge? In this study of Jonah 4:1-11, we look at the final, messy chapter of Jonah's story. Instead of celebrating a massive spiritual turning point in Nineveh, Jonah becomes furious because God is gracious, compassionate, slow to anger, and filled with love. This sermon explores our own struggles with bitterness, how we can fall into the trap of wanting mercy for ourselves but judgment for others, and the lesson of the fading plant that God uses to challenge Jonah's perspective. Join us as we look into the mirror of this passage and confront the radical nature of God's love for a broken world.
