Jeremiah Priest and Prophet-Frederick Brotherton Meyer

In this series, the voice of an ancient teacher finds new resonance. Commentary on the Gospel of Luke, Sermons 47-56 presents the detailed exegesis of Cyril of Alexandria, a fifth-century archbishop and theologian, brought directly to modern ears. These ten sermons, focused on a specific sequence from Luke's narrative, offer more than historical analysis; they provide a window into how the early church wrestled with and celebrated the life of Christ. Cyril’s approach is both scholarly and pastoral, unpacking the layers of scripture with a focus on its spiritual and doctrinal significance. As you listen, you’ll encounter his insights into parables, miracles, and teachings, all framed within the broader context of salvation history as understood in his time. This isn't a casual overview but a deep, methodical walk through chapters nine through fifteen, making complex theological concepts accessible. The value of this podcast lies in its direct engagement with a primary source, allowing Cyril's own words to guide the reflection. It’s suited for anyone with a serious interest in patristics, biblical commentary, or deepening their scriptural knowledge through the lens of Christian tradition. Each episode stands as a dedicated study session, inviting contemplation and a richer understanding of foundational texts.
