Batch304: The Cold IPA Conundrum

Batch304: The Cold IPA Conundrum

Cheers and unlimited beers, it’s festival season! 14 Cannons head brewer Nic Bortolin stops in to talk about their upcoming beer fest, the pitfalls of checking Untappd, the silliness that is “Cold IPA,” and new yeast strains (nerd stuff).

Greg is drinking Nic and his collab: Morning Watch Coffee Kölsch.

Greg made the mistake of searching reviews of Morning Watch, and Nic talks about the evil that is “Untappd.” 14 Cannons is hosting their first Brews & Crews festival on May 21, and we’ve got a promo code! Nic also talks about all the breweries that will be on hand and the music lineup, including his own band, The Scuba Kids!

The guys get Nic to open up on what the F a Cold IPA really is. He also gets nerdy and talks about two new yeast strains: one that sours without any contamination and another that eliminates the need for dry hopping.

Massachusetts is bringing the vibe down for Ludicrous Libation Law.

Huge news: 14 Cannons is opening a second tasting room and pilot system on the water. Modern Times is still in trouble; now, they’re hoping to be sold as a whole. Stone accuses Sycamore Brewing of stealing “Keep it Juicy” first. Moonlight Brewing has a new part-owner, and they’re craft again! Sad news for America’s only Trappist brewery. And Apple is trying to curb drunk driving.
