34 - The Second and Third Commandments

34 - The Second and Third Commandments

Author: Dr Caitlin West September 4, 2022 Duration: 25:51

"You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain." "Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor, and do all your work; but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God; in it you shall not do any work."

Why is it so bad to take God's name in vain? Why do I have to go to Mass every Sunday? How late is too late to rock up to Mass? Can I go to work on Sundays? In this episode we discuss the second and third Commandments.

This episode covers Part Three, Section Two, Chapter One, Articles Two and Three of the Catechism of the Catholic Church (pts 2142 -2195).

The ten holy days of obligation: (NOTE: These are technically the holy days of obligation, but not every country enforces all of them.)

  2. The Epiphany,
  3. The Ascension of Christ,
  4. The feast of the Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi),
  5. The feast of Mary the Mother of God,
  6. The Immaculate Conception,
  7. The Assumption,
  8. The feast of Saint Joseph,
  9. The feast of the Apostles Saints Peter and Paul
  10. The feast of All Saints.
