184 Cruising through History: Gorda Cay

184 Cruising through History: Gorda Cay

Author: Christy Pudyk & Lake Sprenkle February 9, 2021 Duration: 46:13

This week we kick off the first episode in a short side series we will be running this Spring, featuring the history of cruising. We’ve titled the series, “Cruising through History”, we should have an episode out once a month, in addition to our regular episodes. Good friend of the show, Stephen from Tampa, has agreed to help me out with it. To that note, we are both amateur historians, so if you find us saying anything wrong, or you know differently, please reach out to us so that we can correct it in a future episode. To kick off the series, we take a look at a small portion of history surrounding Gorda Cay (aka Castaway Cay). The information for this show, came from an article published in Outside Magazine published in 2004, and was written by the grandson of a gentleman named Alvin Tucker, who owned the island in the 60’s and 70’s (see the link below to take you to the article). I hope you enjoy this look back at a small portion of the island, we all love to visit during our cruises through the Caribbean. Enjoy everyone.
