Big ups to everyone, its the 21st of May 2020, You are listening to the Decisive Podcast Series, the newly added Bi-Monthly Live program. I am glad you could with me and my guest J-Lab today. I hope you're in good health and staying positive through these tough times, particularly those of you that worked at bars clubs, Musicians, Dj ́s, live acts, that are out of work because of the Coronavirus pandemic. My guest today is Jon Dickens aka J-Lab Who currently lives in Berlin has been making music of a technoid kind of sound for a few years, This talented blok is working on a lot of new stuff, with a mix of tech, house, dub & electro influences. Let me start by saying - after hearing a snip-it of J-Lab`s improvisational live performance a while back in Whales at the incredible at Freerotation festival, It was a must that I invite him back to my Bi-Monthly #2 Live program to learn more about him and his creative personality. © 2020 Jon Dickens. Copyright control. This live set is made up mainly of a bunch of material I've been working on since before Christmas. And then recorded during the lockdown we're all currently experiencing to some degree or another. So the silence and the space we now have in the city was undoubtably an influence on the performance. Dedicated to the memory of the wonderful Mike Huckaby, who passed from this realm into the next whilst I was recording this. For the tech heads - recorded in one take on a DSI Tempest, Roland JX-03 and a laptop running Live, Numerology, a Prophet 5 emulator, a SH101 emulator and a few loops, through a Really Nice Compressor and an A&H ZED10FX desk. For over ten years, Decisive Podcast Series has served as a unique meeting point for curious minds drawn to the inner workings of artistic life. Host Roberto Ingram guides these conversations, bringing a perspective shaped by his own winding path through dance choreography and DJing into a deeper exploration of the creative landscape. This isn't just about the final product; it's about the often messy, personal, and fascinating journey there. Each episode leans into genuine dialogue, whether through in-depth Artist Series interviews or candid discussions on creative process. You'll hear from a wide range of authentic voices-composers, visual artists, designers, performers-sharing stories that cross traditional boundaries. The focus is on multidisciplinary creativity, where ideas from one discipline fuel innovation in another, all set against a backdrop of global sounds and music narratives. Tuning into this podcast feels like pulling up a chair in a studio late at night, listening as guests unravel how they think, work, and overcome the hurdles of bringing something new into the world. It’s a sustained inquiry into what drives makers across fields, curated by 100 % Quality Artists, Music & Interviews for anyone interested in the real conversations happening behind the scenes of culture.
