The Rules of Eurovision: Part 2 (1990 - 2023)

Author: Bingewatch September 18, 2023 Duration: 15:40

Continuing our series on the rules of the Eurovision Song Contest, we pick where we left off in 1990 and carry you through the the most recent contest in 2023.

The 21st century was a time when audience and jury voting was the focus for many of the rule changes, with numerous iterations of counting votes and ranking countries.

The 2000s was also the birth of the semi-final, and the big four became the big five.

And don't get us started on the jury ranking weightings, but if you are interested here's a handy guide from Eurovision themselves explaining all the maths!
