Ferrari’s ‘Best in the World’ Rob Cole & Chris Mahon at Jardine Colchester Ferrari

Author: Paramex Digital May 16, 2022 Duration: 1:12:25

It isn’t very often you get the chance to sit down with a best in the world award winner in any field, let alone two; however, this week, John Marcar sits down with Ferrari’s best Sales Executive and best technician… and when we say the best - we mean the best - the best in the world!

Jardine Colchester Ferrari has the almost unheard of accolade with two Testa Rossa award winners on the payroll. Rob Cole has been a top sales executive with Ferrari every year since 2018 and scooped the top prize as the top sales executive in the world in 2021. Chris Mahon started as an apprentice with Colchester Ferrari, aged just 16. He has developed an unrivalled passion and commitment to the brand, ultimately leading him to the Testa Rossa Award for the best technician in the world.

John sits down with Chris and Rob on a day the dealership celebrates its beautiful refurbished showroom to discover what it takes to be the best in the world for such a prestigious brand like Ferrari. We also discuss the sublime and the ridiculous on both sides of sales and technician work with some great stories of spec choices and servicing challenges.

For a while, the drivenchat podcast served as the weekly audio companion to the Driven platform, wrapping up the automotive world into candid conversations. Each episode paired the insights of a special guest from across the industry with the distinct perspectives of its three hosts. Listeners heard automotive writer, producer, and presenter John Marcar alongside automotive and lifestyle photographer Amy Heynes, with analysis from a racing driver and vehicle dynamics expert. This combination meant discussions naturally flowed from technical deep-dives into engineering and performance to the broader culture and style surrounding cars, all grounded in genuine expertise. The podcast has since concluded its run, with new episodes continuing under the refreshed banner of The Driven Podcast. The existing library of drivenchat episodes remains a compelling archive, capturing specific moments and voices from the motoring scene through relaxed yet informed dialogue. It was a show where passion for cars was the starting point, not the entire destination, often veering into the personal stories and unexpected tangents that make the automotive community so diverse. Produced by Paramex Digital, the series sits within the leisure and automotive categories, offering a backstage pass to the people who design, drive, photograph, and obsess over vehicles of all kinds.
