This week we have Nick Stone on the show! Nick Stone is a former AFL player with Hawthorn, Collingwood and St Kilda Football Club. He played 20 games across 5 years in the AFL and has some incredible stories. When footy finished, Nick moved over to New York in 2010 to work in investment banking and through working in the US Nick discovered a gap in the coffee and cafe industry - there was nothing that compared to an Australian coffee in the US. With no real experience in hospitality, he opened his first cafe Bluestone Lane in 2013 to remedy the need for an Aussie-style café in America, growing the concept to over 50 stores by the end of 2019. The story is bloody unbelievable! He is a seriously switched on unit, I took so much out of this chat especially if you're looking at starting your own business! Hope you enjoy it as much as I did! Cant thank Nick enough for his time and when you're next over in the states make sure you check out one his cafes. There’s a particular kind of conversation that happens when the microphones feel like they’re off, when the pressure to perform drops away and what’s left is just genuine connection and a lot of laughs. That’s the space where Dyl & Friends lives. Hosted by Dylan and brought to you by Clubby Sports, this podcast sits at the easy intersection of sports and comedy, but it’s about so much more than scores and punchlines. Each episode, Dylan welcomes interesting and notable guests from various walks of life, though often with ties to the sporting world, for a chat that is deliberately humorous and lighthearted. The tone is incredibly warm, positive, and comforting-like catching up with an old friend you haven’t seen in years. You’ll hear plenty of playful banter, but the conversations naturally deepen, touching on career and life highs and lows. Dylan has a knack for tapping into the mindset and psyche of his guests, steering the dialogue toward what truly drives them. Without ever feeling like an interrogation, he uncovers the philosophies and simple joys that make his guests feel happy and successful. One of the best parts about this podcast is that you don’t need to be familiar with the guest beforehand. Dylan’s curious and empathetic approach draws out their stories in such a relatable way that you’ll find yourself invested immediately, and likely walking away with a new perspective. It’s that rare blend of entertainment and substance that keeps you coming back.
