Today, we will practice the Korean grammar pattern ~하게 되다. ~하게 되다 literally means “to become” or “to turn out.”
It is used to express a change in situation or a turn of events. This change is usually accidental or beyond the person’s control, and it is most commonly used with verbs.
For example:
· 한국에 가게 됐어요. = I ended up going to Korea.
· 그 사람을 좋아하게 됐어요. = I came to like that person.
· 서점에서 일하게 됐어요. = I ended up working at a bookstore.
